The story of MastihaLife

It was 978 AD, when a beautiful baby was born in the Imperial Byzantine Palace of Constantinople. Being the daughter of the reigning Emperor, she was swathed in purple, the colour reserved only for kings and was named “Zoe”, which is the Greek name for “Life”.
Zoe, born to the purple, was destined to become the first woman Empress of Byzantium.
She and her younger sister, Princess Theodora, grew up and lived a happy life in the imperial palace. From an early age, she started diligently mixing medications and attempting to prepare a kind of love potion, while, her sister Dora delved into developing cosmetics. However, as a result of lacking certain special but unknown to them ingredient, they could not succeed.
The love potions did not work, Zoe’s life was unhappy and without love. Even though she was very beautiful, she first got married at the age of 40, and had two failed marriages thereafter. Her third husband was extremely cruel and suspicious of everyone around him, including Dora. He commanded to have her removed from the palace, cut her hair and had her exiled to live an arduous and difficult life in a monastery. Meanwhile, Zoe lived miserably at the imperial palace.
The years of unhappiness finally came to an end. One day in 1040, three monks from the island of Chios, carrying with them the rare and precious Mastiha, came to a young warrior named Constantine and told him that, according to a revelation from the Virgin Maria, he would be the next emperor. However Constantine, thinking that this was totally impossible, burst into a hearty laugh. But he still thanked the monks and gave them his golden ring in exchange for their gift of Mastiha. Also he promised them he would dispatch the best architects and artists to build a huge monastery for the monks, if and when their prophecy was to come true.
The three monks then went to meet secretly with Empress Zoe, who was no longer young at 62 but still strong with great charm. They presented her their mysterious Mastiha and taught her how to make love potions with it.
Zoe was fascinated with Mastiha and commenced using it daily in all sorts of medicines potions. So much so, that she became known in palace as “Mastiha Zoe” that is, “Mastiha Life”.
Two years later, her cruel husband was eventually taken away and locked up during a people’s uprising.
Zoe brought Princess Dora back to the palace, where Dora developed a range of elaborate and almost magic cosmetics which also became known as Mastiha Life. They were made with Mastiha and it was its special anti-aging effect that gained Zoe’s youth back and made her become more and more attractive.
Zoe prepared a special love potion using Mastiha and sent it to Constantine. As a result, Constantine came back to Constantinople, and miraculously, being 42 years younger than her, fell in love with her, married with her and became the emperor of Byzantium.
The three monks came to the palace during the wedding ceremony of Zoe and Constantine. They showed Constantine’s golden ring to the guards and were ushered in front of the new imperial couple. The Emperor and Empress, in gratitude, commanded immediately that the best architects and artists be sent to Chios to build the biggest monastery on this island.
This monastery, named NEA MONI, is still standing, after almost one thousand years, right in the center of this beautiful island.
Recently, MastihaLife has been transplanted to Asia as a natural, happy, beautiful, rejuvenating lifestyle, for people of superior taste and fashion.
